CPR/AED Training

CPR/AED classes are held once a month on the second Saturday of each month. More

CERT Training

The initial training for the Community Emergency Response Team training is offered four times a year. For more information, please contact the Big Bear City Fire Department and the Bear Valley CERT website.

Public Education

FF/PM Mitch Hollenbaugh The Big Bear Fire Protection District places great emphasis in educating the public on fire prevention and safety. We work with all other fire agencies in the Valley providing workshops and classes to the Bear Valley Unified School District, senior citizens, businesses, and other groups.

Defensible Space

A firewise landscape includes LOW pyrophytic plants, shrubs and trees (those less likely to burn and slower to ignite), strategically placed and maintained to resist the spread of fire. It also is a landscape maintained free of dead and dry plant materials, with living plants, shrubs and trees properly spaced so they will not serve as ladder fuels during a wildfire.
