Mountain Area Safety Taskforce (MAST) Wood Shake/Shingle Roof Replacement Grant Program for the San Bernardino County Mountains

This program is brought to you in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the California Emergency Management Agency, the San Bernardino County Fire Department, The City of Big Bear Lake, and the Big Bear Lake Fire Protection District.

The purpose of the program is to replace existing wood shake/shingle roofs on structures within the mountain communities located in the County of San Bernardino.  These structures are at the highest risk of igniting during a wildfire occurrence which could spread throughout the various mountain communities. The grant programs are voluntary. The priority for funding is established by FEMA and is based upon potential for wildfire behavior, structural ignitability, proximity to the National Forest, terrain, aspect, topological features, and community preservation.
