BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR July 13, 2021

Give the Gift of Life

BIG BEAR, CA/July 1, 2021– The Big Bear Professional Firefighters are hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Station 281, located at 41090 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake, in the front parking lot.

The need for blood is constant and ongoing. Each donation of blood can save the lives of three people. Along with this blood drive, the Big Bear Fire Department (BBFD) Helicopter, H285, is in the final stages of preparing to carry blood and plasma products on the airship for use during transports. This makes regionally, BBFD and H285 the first fire department-based resource to house blood for patients care. Big Bear Fire Department and Mercy Air/Air Methods are very excited and proud to be able to provide the highest level of care to the citizens and visitors of the Big Bear Valley.

BIG BEAR, CA/June 30, 2021 – Fireworks can be beautiful, but they can be unpredictable and deadly. Numerous fires every year result from the use of personal fireworks. The possession, use or sale of any type of personal fireworks, including “safe and sane” fireworks, is against the law in any part of the Big Bear Valley. “The use of illegal fireworks places the entire community, as well as our first responders at risk,” stated Big Bear Fire Marshal Mike Maltby.

With the mountain areas facing another very dangerous wildland fire season, the Big Bear Fire Department has increased its vigilance in enforcing state and local fireworks laws to protect public health and safety. The possession, use or sales of illegal fireworks is subject to fines of $1,000 with the possibility of arrest.

For fireworks viewing, Visit Big Bear of Big Bear Lake organizes an annual event for locals and visitors with world-class fireworks on the evening of July 4^th, visible from many vantage points.
